SPACE SHOT

For four years (2014-17) SPACE SHOT has provided 11 (more recently 10)-19 year olds in the Ernesettle area of Plymouth with three professionally-run youth sessions a week, plus a range of expert-led activities, including media, dance, water sports, football and art. Based at the SPACE Centre in the heart of Ernesettle, the project is giving young people the opportunity to engage in positive activities, help them improve their lifestyles and health and involve them in local community events.

Through this work Barefoot hopes to reduce levels of anti-social behaviour and increase both confidence and community engagement amongst local young people. The project is  also working closely with local agencies, including Ernesettle Community School, Marine Academy Plymouth, the Ernesettle NHS surgery, St Aidan's Church and Ernesettle Community Forum and other community organisations to develop more opportunities, closely monitor changing needs and identify young people less likely to come forward and benefit from SPACE SHOT’s offer. Barefoot and its partners estimate that there are approximately 600 young people aged 10 to 25 living on the Ernesettle estate in Plymouth.

SPACE SHOT started on 1st April 2014 and was initially made possible thanks to a grant from The Big Lottery's Reaching Communities fund. You can find updates on the news pages
