is working in partnership with Plymouth Sports Academy, Active for Life
(Plymouth Guild) and Plymouth NHS Trust to deliver weekly Boccia sessions, with
thanks to funding from Awards for All and The
Baily Thomas Charitable Fund. Boccia is a boules type game played in
teams and is suitable for all abilities.
The Bigger Better Boccia project, funded by Awards for All, ran in Plymouth in 2011 and provided inclusive, structured activities for adults and children with learning disabilities and the wider community, focussing on the inclusive sport of Boccia. Participants were able to meet new people, keep active, develop and learn new skills and feel a sense of belonging. The sessions were a great success and led to a committee being formed by the players and support workers. 'Boccia Plymouth' as it is now known, worked with Barefoot to secure funding from The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund to provide further weekly Boccia sessions for existing and new players. Boccia Fun Club is held at the Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre and Mayflower Centre. Boccia Fun Club Timetable
