Of course, the regular Wednesday SPACE Shot youth sessions continue into the autumn and beyond, with Matt, Claire and Daisy ready to welcome juniors (11-13) from 5.00pm to 6.30pm and seniors (14-19) from 6.45pm to 8.45pm at the SPACE Centre in Hornchurch Lane (behind the shops). Play games, eat, talk, find out about all the latest stuff and help us plan new activities that young people in Ernesettle really want to do.
Then, on Wednesday 17th September, from 6.45pm to 8.45pm at St Aiden's Church Hall, we've got the first of our new SPACE Shot dance sessions, run by Claire Summers and her excellent team from Exim Dance. Also open to all 11-19 year olds this is the place to go if you want to have fun and keep fit whilst learning cool moves and some great skills. This is very much for EVERYBODY, so don't hide behind the sofa or say 'I can't dance' when you know you'd really like to come along and have a go. Absolutely no previous experience is necessary, but you can also bring all the skills you like.
The summer was packed with brilliant SPACE Shot activities and trips, from surfing to horse riding and including trips to Quay West and Woodlands. Both our junior and senior groups got to enjoy the activities: sometimes together! The trips were a great way for young people to better get to know the SPACE Shot youth work team (Matt, Claire and Daisy) and each other and learn new skills, overcome old fears and see a bit more of Devon and Cornwall. But with the sunny weather about to end sometime soon we're diving straight into some new regular, indoor activities for the autumn and winter.Already underway is Media with Devonport-based experts Fotonow. The Fotonow team are well known to young people in Ernesettle, having worked in the area with Barefoot as early as 2012. Now, every Monday evening, from 5.00pm - 7.00pm in the SPACE Centre Media room (last door at the uphill end) 11-19 year olds can get involved in photography, film making, reporting and other media-type activities, leading to bigger projects in the future. Everything is hands-on and there's lots of help from Jo and other members of the team to make sure everyone gets to produce something amazing in every session.
