Art of the Community is a programme of creative activities and 'mini-festival' events involving schools and their local communities. They are organised through 12 local cluster groups of schools and community organisations that together cover the whole city. In July 2011 nine Art of the Community events took place in diffrent areas of Plymouth, one more than in 2010. These involved 49 schools, 3 Children's Centres and many other partners such as The National Trust,Waterstones Bookshops and Stonehouse Play Association. The events brought together young people, parents and other members of the community to celebrate where they live through fun-packed creative activities led by experienced professionals. This year the themes underpinning the many art workshops were inspired by the British Art Show, which is coming to Plymouth in September.
